We love Twitter. It’s a powerful tool for social media marketing, a great way to engage with people in your industry, and an all-round fun way to stay connected. Unfortunately, Twitter spam has been around almost as long as Twitter itself. From phishing to malware to hacked accounts, Twitter has its share of shady characters trying to get access to your information. There’s not much to do about that–except report the spammers (see below)– but there is a lot you can do to protect yourself, and to get rid of viruses that may have already infected your account. (And if you use your Twitter account for social media marketing, you should be protecting it just like you’d protect any valuable business asset).
