Scope
Overview
Cable tie manufacturer Nelco came to Vital for help migrating their existing website off of Magento and onto a modern WordPress platform. The rebuilt site needed to closely mirror their existing design while introducing one major upgrade: a quote cart that would allow users to add multiple products and request a quote in a single submission, rather than product by product. No need to reinvent the wheel here, but Nelco came to the right place. We do this kind of thing all the time.
A Clean Migration With One Key Addition
The goals for this project were fairly straightforward:
- Implement a quote cart feature so users could request pricing on multiple items at once
- Rebuild the existing Nelco site using WordPress block editor and WooCommerce
- Preserve the look and feel of the original site
This Is How We Do It
The development team rebuilt the Nelco site in WordPress using the block editor and WooCommerce, replicating the existing site’s structure and design while modernizing the underlying platform. The centerpiece of the new functionality was the quote cart, a streamlined tool that lets users browse, add products, and submit a single quote request for everything in their cart — a feature that was long overdue.
Custom Code for the Win
The one significant hurdle the team encountered was a compatibility issue: the request-a-quote plugin did not work with WP Engine. After working directly with the plugin vendor without a resolution, the development team stepped in and implemented a custom code solution to get the functionality working as intended.
Shopping for the Future
The relaunched Nelco site gives the client a clean, maintainable WordPress foundation and the quote cart functionality their users needed, all without disrupting the familiar experience customers were used to.
