USD Hahn School of Nursing
Clearing the Path for the Next Generation of Nursing Students
Scope

Overview
Vital partnered with the University of San Diego’s Hahn School of Nursing and Health Science to refresh and reorganize their website, making it easier for prospective students to understand their options and find a clear path forward. Working within USD’s existing CMS, Cascade, our team brought new life to the site through updated copy, shiny new photography, and video captured during an on-location shoot in San Diego.
Bringing New Energy to a Fixed Framework
The Vital team worked within Cascade to reorganize and rewrite key pages across the site, sharpening the copy and improving the overall flow of information. Because Cascade didn’t allow for new design patterns, we leaned on content and visuals to do the heavy lifting. We refreshed the photography throughout and wove in video to give the site a more modern, dynamic feel.
To better guide the student experience, the homepage was designed around two distinct discovery paths: explore by program and explore by pathway. This dual navigation gives prospective nursing students an immediate way to orient themselves, whether they know exactly what they’re looking for or are still figuring it out.
The most exciting part involved the Vital team traveling to San Diego for a three-day on-location photo and video shoot to capture authentic imagery of students, faculty, and campus life. The shoot produced a full library of photography for the site refresh and enough footage to produce a new video about the student experience that the Hahn team was particularly excited about.
