UVM Foundation
Uniting Two Websites Into One Seamless Digital Home
Scope

Two Sites, One Vision.
The University of Vermont Foundation came to Vital with a familiar but complex challenge: they had two separate websites, too much content, and a growing need for something cleaner, more manageable, and built for the long haul. Their existing Foundation and Alumni sites had accumulated pages over time, making navigation unwieldy for visitors and content management a headache for their internal team. With a firm deadline on the horizon — driven by an expiring CMS contract — Vital got to work building a unified, modern website on Wix that would serve both audiences without the clutter.
- Consolidate the UVM Foundation and UVM Alumni websites into a single, cohesive platform.
- Streamline and reduce content to create a cleaner, more intuitive user experience.
- Deliver a site that the UVM team could confidently manage and grow on their own.
- Hit a tight launch deadline before the team lost access to their existing CMS.

UVM Foundation

UVM Alumni Association
Cutting Through the Clutter.
Vital assembled a full cross-functional team to tackle both the content and the build simultaneously. The first order of business was a careful audit of both existing sites to determine what content was essential, what could be condensed, and what could be left behind. By strategically reducing page count and restructuring the information architecture, the team created clear pathways for both Foundation and Alumni audiences.
The project was also a true collaboration with the UVM team themselves. Rather than handing off a finished product, Vital worked alongside UVM staff as they built out many of their own pages within the new platform, keeping communication lines open and answering questions in real time. This hands-on partnership meant the client arrived at launch day not just with a new website, but with the confidence to own it.

A New Platform = A New Perspective.
Consolidating two content-heavy sites into one required difficult editorial decisions. Determining which pages to keep, combine, or cut was a time-intensive process that demanded close coordination between Vital’s team and the client. The project also came with a hard deadline that left little room for delays.
Building within Wix also presented its own learning curve. While the WYSIWYG platform isn’t part of Vital’s usual development environment, the team leaned into the challenge. We discovered both the platform’s strengths and its limitations along the way, and ultimately delivered a polished result within the constraints.

Ahead of Schedule and Ready to Grow.
The new UVM Foundation website launched ahead of the original timeline, a win made possible by the strong collaborative rhythm between Vital and the UVM team. Because the client was so actively involved in building out their own pages, they arrived at launch with deep familiarity with the platform and real autonomy over managing and expanding their site going forward. For Vital, the project added a new dimension of platform expertise and reinforced what’s possible when a client and agency work as true partners.
